I’ll be the first to tell you that I’m not patient in the kitchen. I like to cook and bake, but I’m the kind of person who throws all the ingredients in the bowl at once and hopes for the best. All those recipes that tell you to mix the butter and sugar first (and in a separate bow) aren’t my style. The problem is, that I appreciate good food, and wish that I were a little more patient. I have subscribed to Bon appetit for almost 2 years, and to be honest, I don’t know that I’ve ever attempted one of their recipes. I’m intimidated and I don’t know what half the ingredients are.

But today I was feeling the itch to bake (and I really wanted some cookies). I saw this recipe on my friend Julie’s Blog a few weeks ago and have been thinking about the warm, chewy, chocolately, delicious cookies ever since. And as luck would have it, I just so happened to have all the ingredients! (cranberries, wheat germ and flax meal are not typical ingredients in the Cooley kitchen, but they’ve been sitting in the refrigerator since Adam and I got inspired to make our own granola bars about 6 months ago. We only made them once) And I figure any cookie that includes wheat germ and flax meal must be healthy right? I also reasoned that when you chop up baker’s chocolate it’s better than just dumping in a bag of chocolate chips.

As I was taking the picture I realized that I’ve never seen a need for one of those wire cooling racks, but maybe it would be nice to have one. It would save me the paper towels…

And yes, the cookies are as yummy as they look!

  • Hello! I’m so glad you tried the cookies. They are delicious. And I love the new blog and can’t wait to see what else you do with it. I’m in the process of fixing mine up too, but I don’t have any design skills so am having to enlist a bit of help!
