The Green Monster Smoothie

As promised, here’s the green monster smoothie. I know it sounds crazy, spinach in a smoothie, but if you like fruit smoothies you’ve got to try this one. It’s my new favorite after workout treat. And it’s pretty darn healthy to boot. If you can get past the color—Adam thinks I’m crazy every time he sees me drinking it. I think it’s kind of pretty.

I found the recipe on one of my new favorite food blogs, Iowa Girl Eats. She inspires me to try new recipes and be healthy.

Blend:
* 1/4 cup oats (for girth)
* 2 giant handfuls spinach
* 1 cup skim milk
Once that’s nice and smooth add:
* 1 frozen banana
* handful of ice (I usually do 5 cubes)

Blend again ’til the ice isn’t chunky any more and enjoy!

I’ll be honest, at first I was skeptical about the oatmeal, and it does give the smoothie and interesting texture, but it’s tasty! Try and let me know what you think.
